Pip Collins, born Raymond Unsworth in 1948 in Wigan, Lancashire Began his career as a Singer with bands and Duo’s before becoming a solo Professional Entertainer in his own right and developed into a respected member of the Entertainment profession around the cabaret scene worldwide, having performed in Greece, Malta, Tenerife, Lanzarote and many parts of mainland Spain. In the early years of his career he represented the town of Wigan on numerous occasions in the Top Town competition on local radio and for three years, was resident Compere at what was to become the Riverside Club at Central Park. Moving on to Mr. Ms. Nightclub at Wigan Casino, working alongside some of the top Acts of the time. For a time he lived and entertained on the Canary island of Lanzarote. His career as spanned 4 decades and he has remained a strong performer and a great inspiration to other entertainers in the business. Because of his professional status and great organizing skills he has, over the years been involved in numerous charity events, from scanner appeals, to benefit events for needy children. Besides his singing career, he has had numerous parts on television, appearing in programs such as Coronation St, Emmerdale, Brookside, Boon, Hettie Wainthrop, World in Action, Sherlock Holmes and many others. Photos of which you can see on this site. Pip has a great talent for song arrangement and producing backing tracks and albums for other acts in the entertainment business. He is especially proud of the fact that he had a great deal of influence on a young star of the future, Lauren Waterworth who is setting out on what is expected to be a super future with Pete Waterman. Pip arranged and recorded her voice when she was only 8 years old and recognized the great potential in her. Pip Collins has maintained a strong following on the entertainment scene for all these years. Pip retired due to ill health in February 2003 after 39 years and eleven months in the business. |
